Unless your T-400 is set-up to be neutraled on the shutdown LEAVE IT IN GEAR.

Correct, NEVER neutral a TH-400 on the top end.. The high drum will go into warp speed and can explode

I never understood why anyone bumps their trans into neutral during shutdown. I witnessed a Camaro spin out at the Grove when I was a kid because he overshot neutral and went into reverse. It just doen't make any sense to me.

I always put my trans in neutral and click the motor off right as I go thru the lights.  I have done this with a  t-350, t-400, glide and pro-flite.  I have been doing this for years.  The only people that say I have been lucky doing this are trans guys.  The harmonics inside of an engine twisting at 8500+rpm in deceleration is disasterous.  The stress and strain on rod bolts, valve springs and pushrods are nasty.
