I have been wondering exactly what this stuff was worth if anything. I have talked to many and they have said its worth a few ponies and definately worth having. Being that they (Joe Gibbs Driven) are on board as sponsors, I wanted to try some testing today with our visit to the dyno.
Well after a few pulls we were able get to a very happy baseline with our Drag Radial test motor today and decided to make the switch before we left for the day. We pulled the standard petroleum based oil and replaced it with the XP-1. The dyno operator told me that we would see a small gain if there was any the first pull but the second with the new oil would be the proof.
After the first pull with the XP-1 the motor made 5 more hp and we were very pleased, but had no idea that this stuff was gonna be worth 11 hp and 8 ft. lbs of torque after the second pull. I must say that we were very pleased with our choice to use the Joe Gibbs Driven XP-1 oil. I now have proof and I am a believer.

I know Steve started offer'n warrantes on his engines using JG's oil. We've used alot of stuff over the years from Red Line,Royal Purple,Amzoil, and everything in between. You almost have to scrape your skin off to get it off your hands. It sticks to whatever it touches!!!! I.E..... valve springs in nextel cup!

I know what you mean. We dynoed at Phily Racing Engines. When Jay took the oil temp probe out of the oil pan some oil got on the floor and Jay was wiping it up and it wasn't easy to get that stuff off the floor. I wondered how they got that stuff so sticky in a synthetic 0-20.

your in about the same boat as me, I have a stock 350, but no cam or anything else internal, I have started running royal purple racing oil in it last season and it did well, and from what I understand is that some stock motors do well with racing oil but other can get damaged since it is a little thinner then what your motor is used to. I am thinking of switching from royal purple racing oil to the Joe Gibbs Driven this season and I am looking into the XP3 due to the clearances in my stock motor... http://shop.joegibbsracingoil.com/Content/product-28-1-23.htm?VPID=29&TPID=30

I would use the XP1 before the XP6. If you think the XP1 is a little to light use the XP3. I would only use the XP6 if bearing clearances were really loose.

Wow that is some expensive stuff!!!!! My issue with cases is my car takes 6.5 to 7 quarts so there is not mathematical formula to buy and even number to try a case. I guess it would not be advisable to purposely mix this with another oil like 6 of JGD and 1 quart of mobil 1 and expect the same results? How long would you keep this oil in, a season, 10 passes, 20 passes? ??

I am going to try it this season, and I was going to try running it for a few months then switching it out around mid summer, but I am lucky and can get to changes out of a case, and have a little extra if needed...
If I see a noticable change again when I change the oil in the summer I will know I should change it sooner the next time...

How long would you keep this oil in, a season, 10 passes, 20 passes? ?? I would think you could 30 to 40 passes easy. Do you do any street driving? I have sent used oil samples out to see how the oil is doing. Last year I was changing about every 20 passes, and then using that oil in my subaru and the wifes nissan. Randy

No street driving. I am using dino oil now and change every 10-20 passes now. So if I went to race oil, I would want to keep it in there longer

Red In some of the old NSCA race's you or I could be changing twice a event. The wagon gets it oil changed every win or blown motor what happens first. maybe I should try joe's oil 7 days 4 hr's till cecil could be open.
