OK guys, as most of you may know my car is slow (hence the screen name), but that is because it has a factory stock motor. Later this season, hopefully after I break the bolt-on only LT1 record, I am planning on installing ported heads, a cam, and a few other things. I have a set of LT1 heads that Rich went over a little bit for me last season that are just sitting there begging to get installed, I also have a mild off the shelf cam (http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/instructions/cca-07-305-8.doc.pdf) that I am now thinking of selling because it is probably too mild for what I use the car for now. I am limited by sticking with the stock bottom end, and PCM but I know if I go with a 4/7 swap cam I can get it to rev a little higher and preserve the stock bottom end, but can not rev it higher then 6800 due to PCM limitations, this calls for a custom grind...

I was just wondering who some of you have gone with to both help spec it out and have it done?

I've always gone with predator custom ground racing cams in Mt. Caramel PA.  The specialize in anything from what you want to pro stock.  I have had lots of success and their customer service and turn around is second to none.

Don't go with Jay Allen. I've heard negative things about him.
There are plenty of really good grinds you can buy right out of a catalog that'll work well with your combo. Leave the custom grinds for the heads up guys. You can get an off the shelf cam that'll work well for you.

thanks for the info guys...

Brian what catalog are you refering to? I was looking for a good matched combo and unsure if I just read something from a catalog description like in summit or something if that could do it, I don't think they would provide enough details about the cams to get something I would prefer and put me right where I want to be. But if there was another catalog you had in mind like a comp, lunati, other brand etc. maybe they would have more details about the cams, but I have never seen one of their catalogs...

Any of those you mentioned. You can go to their website and view the cam catalog, look at descriptions, see what rpm range you need, what'll work with your gears, converter, compression ratio, etc. You'll also find all the related parts & part #'s such as springs, retainers, locks, etc to go with a particular cam.

Nothing in writing yet for 2008 but Bullet has been a contingency sponsor for the series for the last 2 years.

Second Street Speed in Perkasie Pa has the info plus can get the work done for you. They have info on what combos work best and can tune them.

The last two cams I have run were from Bullet. They seemed to work real well for my combination. Some real good guys at Bullet.

Thanks guys,

I may talk to second street since I hear a lot of good things about them on the LT1 boards...

Wes - that Accel cam is smaller then the one I was thinking about getting rid of because I tghought it was already to mild, I am looking to get close to 11.50's without heads and a cam and as far as reflashing the computer, I have fun doing that myself and sometimes do it between rounds when at the race events. I really enjoy playing with the computer stuff, so a larger cam does not concern me, but it would need to stay within the limits of the stock PCM just for the costs associated to going stand-alone...

I have had good luck with Crower.  I started going with Crower a couple years ago when i switched to Mopar from Chevy.  use to have Lunati make me cams.

But my cars have always been street/strip cars
