I bought a 1995 4x4 2500 V10 5 sp dodge to tow my trailer this year. Any body  have a insight on how may gas stations I will need to stop at on the way to a Ram race?  I hope I can make Cecil and back on one tank. Huh? Grin Roll Eyes its only 26 miles and I have a 35 gal tank.  It's a Nice cheap truck, passed md. inspection with only brake work  It should do the job with no worrys.  Go ahead, Cry  let me have the bad fuel milage news.
I hope for 10 empty, 9 towing the open trailer and 6 towing the enclosed. any info you may have that may help emprove that?  and don't tell me to leave the wagon home to be 4000 lbs lighter  Roll Eyes thats been sugested. Thanks

I have a V-10 Ford in a Class C Motorhome and towing to VMP & Budds Creek I got 7 mpg towing an open trailer. I have had 2 gas engine dually pick-ups; both Chevy one 454 and one 8.1. The 8.1 was got the least mpg, I would get around 5-6 towing a 28 ft. enclosed trailer and the 454 would pretty much get 7 pulling the same enclosed trailer. All really get much better mileage if you keep them under 65 mph, but that is hard to do especially when you are traveling great distances but with the Ram series being local it keeps travel cost liveable.

It should be noted I had K&N air filters on them but I did not have the Tornado.

I have room for the drum...  and So did my diesel, I just could not stand the cost's of a new truck. Just to sit HOOKED UP TO THE TRAILER with no place to go. I miss NSCA  Cry oh well.
I'll try the K&N fiter I was thinking better exhaust. might help  and one  of those Ebay chips for 28.00.
It has to work great.
Thanks

Cliff, with the way the diesel cost is to gas it might not be that bad. My duramax doesn't do more than 13 miles a gallon towing. I filled both our van and truck up last week. Both took around 30 gallons but the truck was 11 dollar more Shocked. Everybody is gonna feel the pain this year no matter what you drive in less you got a steam engine. Can wait to see what VP is this year! Cry Cry Cry Cry

Cliff, I tow Bob's old trailer with my V-10 Ford Club Wagon HD. I can echo Bobs' quotes on mileage. If I get out on 95 and stay with traffic I get 6-7 mpg, usually about 6.2-6.4. If I can stay 60-65 I can tickle 8 mpg. Around town I get 10-12 depending on how much of a hurry I am in. Mileage around town has improved with a switch to 4.10's and a chip. I think the towing mileage is better too but the speedo was off and I was trying to figure using my sons' GPS so I don't think the figures are accurate. When it had the 3.73 rear it never got better than 10, never, ever. Yours may do better because it is a stick but your 10 are bigger than my 10

See if there is a V10 dodge forum on the net, I know the Cummins forum answered alot of questions on my 1st Dodge Diesel.  I'm interested in racing fuel prices this year also, funny how man made fuels can still be affected by the price of a barrel of oil.

Shadow  I like the name "Turbonator"  But adding a power adder on my tow truck, is that allowed in AMI?   Grin  Just kidding. I think I will have to look into anthing to help the gasser truck stay away from the gas station.  I still like the darn thing,  lets see how I like after,,,, the tow to beaver spring's. that should be my longest Ram tow.

beaker, you are the first person to say anything NEGATIVE about the tornado? what did these shops said caused the problem ?  we are talking about an air difuser that goes in the airhose to the throttle body. it is marked with airflow direction on it, unless it was installed improperly ? curious!!!!!!! shadow  Huh?  Huh?  Huh?

to get it sucked into the motor is darn near impossible, on an EFI car it goes in at the exit  of the air box, before the mass air meter. they come in various sizes & are a snug fit .  i never had one move at all, several other people i know are using them & they love em, been in their cars for over a year & no problems!!!!!!!!!!! if they got sucked into the motor, they had to be installed incorrectly, didn't read the instructions for their particular vechicle ?   shadow   Huh?  Huh?  Huh?
