I'm pretty sure the parachute rules is still 150 mph or quicker. A 9.50 car is usually in the low 140's for mph.

Yep, just checked the 2008 rulesbook and it's still 150 mph or faster.

Page 103, ET catagory, Frame:4 sections.

"PARACHUTE: Mandatory on any car that runs 150 mph or faster. See General Regulations 4:8".

Page 75, General Regulations 4:8, Parachutes.

This section basically discuses proper mounting proceedures.

Quick refernece chart on page 280.

Top box, bottom sentence:

"In no way is this Quick Reference Chart intended to supersede or replace the current NHRA rulesbook"

The only thing that changed clothing wise is all 9.99 and quicker cars are required to have a full face helmet. An open face helmet is no longer legal to run 9.99 and quicker.

3.2A/5 jacket and pants have been a requirement for years as well as 3.3/1 single layer gloves and the neck collar. Nothing new here that I saw in the rulebook.

Plus do not forget that you have to have the face shield and it must be in the down position. What is the lexan for much less if you still have the stock glass in place?  NHRA what will they think of next for the poor sportsman racer to support?

My full face is out of date.  Is anyone caught with an open face that is in date and needs to get a full face?  I need to buy something for this year.  And, I need to run a super tight budget this year.  My oldest boy just got out of the hospital for the 5th time in 6 months, and we have maxxed the deductables and other charges for last year and this year already.
