Many of you already know and many may not, and I am not one to brag about something so embarrassing. But my son Richard has gotten himself into trouble with the law and looks like he may be doing a little bit of time in the county prison and possibly upstate. He is owning up to what he has done and is facing the music. He is doing his time but is finding it very hard to be in there....understandably. What I am asking and I know many of you lead very busy lives or may have personal qualms with helping someone who has committed a crime, but he really enjoys having letters written to him and it helps pass the time and on a bad day can really lift his spirits. My unusual request is if anyone has the time or wouldnt mind writing a letter occasionally to my son, nothing more than a hello or a joke of some sort, something to help him get thru the day, without passing judgement, it would mean the world to me, but more-so to him. I know its a very unusual request and if it makes you feel uncomfortable, I completely understand, but if anyone has a free moment and wouldnt mind. He can recieve regular letters and cards and pics, but no magazine clippings or nude pics. The prison reads the mail so please, even though your hearts in the right place, dont send in any files or saw blades, LOL. Richard is 18 years old and found himself running in the wrong crowds and where are they now? I thought it would be nice to show him that complete strangers could even be better friends than the ones he thought that were. Thanks ahead of time for those that would be so gracious.

mail to:
Richard Maitre II
inmate # 51745
501 South Wawaset rd.
West Chester, Pa. 19382

Thank You,
Rich

No problem. It takes a big man to admit that you have done somthing wrong. I wasn't always a perfect little angel like I am now Grin. I'll send him som letters. Couple of friends of mine were in for some short terms and the said that letters and such are the only uplifting part of the experience they really pull you through.

Thanks Norm, that will definately help him get thru the day. It may be difficult for him to write back, they can only order so many envelopes and stamps per week and that comes on Wednesdays, they wont allow any more than that per week. Everyone on that block has a TV except his cell, the books I ordered and had sent have somehow gotten lost in the system, they are minimum security but still locked down 20 hrs of the day. Trust me if I dont get him some other stuff to read soon I do believe he will be switching faith since the only thing in prison is Muslim literature, lol.

Same here (no problem).  I have a TON of old National Dragsters pilling up, and in the past have sent them to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan through a service mail program we do here at my work.

Is this something that they would allow to be sent to him, and if so would he read them (might help him realize the great racing opportunity he as already thru you that he never thought about before).

Just let me know.

Thanks for the thought but unfortunately they only allow books to be sent directly from the publisher. But do indeed appreciate the thought.

Hey Rich what if we rewrite the magazine article into a letter is that plagiarism if it's not for distribution?  Would they allow that since it's not a clipping?  I would retype some articles into MS Word and send in if that helps.

Dude, you are willing to work way to hard.....what a nice gesture......but a simple "Hey how do you know an elephant is on its period? When a quarter is on your dresser and your mattress is missing" joke will be fine  Roll Eyes Grin

Plus I burnt Buddy out on Drag Racing as a youngin, it was just me and him in the shop late at night, every night....travelling across the US to races all over and I think I just overwhelmed him as a kid to this stuff. Hell I may have drove him to the chemicals, who knows. But he knows that we love him very much even though we dont condone what he is in trouble for. We want him in there to pay his debt and he agrees that he should and is owning up to it, wont even considetr rolling over on anyone else involved, just minding his own business and trying to get thru this.  I may not be happy with what he has done, I am very proud of him facing his fate, and being man enough to handle it.

Thanks for all the offers to write, he says he would love to hear from any and all of you, its a long 20 hrs a day of lockdown in his cell. After 6 weeks of being in he is now just got a second set of clothes, it hasnt been very pleasant in there, but anything you guys can do to cheer him up would mean the world to me.

Thanks again,
Rich

Brian that would be very nice, yes he can get subscriptions. I think he would prefer a Super Street or Tuner mag over our tastes. I always give him a hard time over it but there are bigger battles to fight right now   Roll Eyes Grin  Just make sure his inmate # is on everything ordered, no reason for the C.O.s to get some free reading material to take home because we didnt follow rules.

Thanks,
Rich

Rich I will send him a card, maybe a Hello from the past will cheer him up.
Your right, anybody can get into trouble but owning up to it is a real man in my book.

Greg, Thanks I am sure he will enjoy hearing from you. Both you and Brian know him from when he was much younger, he was a great kid, he made my life easy bringing him up as a single parent, many parents have all kinds of problems trying to go it alone, but not with him, he was always a blessing.

Thanks guys for helping,
Rich
