I am tentatively planning to go to Cecil next Saturday for some testing.  If you are there, stop by and say hello.  If you are a licensed NHRA driver and want to sign for me, please PM me.  Hopefully I'll need to make some lic. passes!

Thanks!

Can't help with the license, but I'm considering going this coming Saturday myself.  Maybe I'll see you there.

30% chance of "some showers" is really not a bad forecast.  I'll wait until Friday before I give any thought to the weather people.

Thanks Jack, let's hope I need you to sign!

OK, now it's Friday.  Forecast really sucks.  Guess I'll have to go next week.  That is the last chance I have to get out before April 19th!  I need to make some test hits after all the changes over the winter.

Valve job, roller cam (from a solid flat tappet), rebuilt rear (no more posi, 35 spline spool and went from 3.5's to 3.73's), Wilwood front brakes, 'Glass fenders, added firewall bars, radial slicks.  Needless to say, I need to see what is going to work with the car this year!

Yeah that sucks Darin, But I am also in a similar boat... I have made a few changes since last yea, hell still am, and if I make it to Cecil on the 19th then that may be the first time my car hits the track this season...

But all I did was more weight reduction to the car, pulling out close to 60+ #'s from the nose and hopefully close to 100# from the whole car, rod ended rear suspension pieces (if I ever finish them), and switching from 28" drag radials to 26" slicks. I am debating on installing the manual master cylinder and linelock before then too, but have to see how much time I have before I start putting things back together...

Good luck getting some testing in though...

1Slow I am thinking about doing the same thing w/the brakes.  Already got the line-loc (Biondo) thinking about manual brakes nobody will guarantee that their g-body kit will work.

Not to pull this away from Darin's post too much, but why are you looking for a kit?

What is the weight of your truck, what is the brake config front disc rear drum or 4 wheel disc? Are they stock brakes or drag brakes. How many pistons per caliper? Knowing these things will help you figure out what manual MC will work, hell if you are running stock brakes with dick fronts and drum rears then you can probably just grab a stock replacement from a non-power brake truck circa late 70's and early 80's from autozone for around $50 or so. I know of a couple guys that actually did that on their stock brake'd f-bodies...

I am just planning on running a 1.031 or 1.125 bore manual MC from strange, it's about $50 more then going the cheep way, but it's also a little lighter and has more braking power and dual bowls...

No matter what you do when you go to manual brakes from power you need modify the pedal mount to get more leverage on the piston, normally just moving piston rod up about an inch from the stock position will do...

Also depending on the mounting holes on your truck, you may have to fab up an adapter plate, like I do, to mount a 2 bolt MC to where the 4 bolt booster used to mount...

Sorry for the Hijack of yout thread Darin...

Great day at Cecil very low car count and got very good numbers for both AMI index and super street racing. There were about 20 to 30 cars total all day, and the the weather man said it was going to do WHAT. Hope people took advantage of a nice day to get things to gether.
