can we have the sponsor logos go down the left or right side of the page instead of on the top?

The logos take over the entire monitor screen and we have to scroll before we see anything.

Guys, all of this is a work-in-progress. May be a few attempts to hit it just write. There is 20 lbs of sponsors to cram in a 10 lb. space.

I see what you mean, it is neat seeing all the little changes being made and their effects... like the background showing through right now when he tried to put the top area in it's own table...

OK strange the viewing area resizes to be different from the main page and the posting page, any thoughts?

so don't take this as complaining.  I am know to be on a few forums.  The change looks better but here is a look at what I see when I look at my new messages.  I know part is my fault because of the theme I am using but I just have too many thing top and bottom competing for space and now the logos push everything off the screen.

change to the forum default and see if that helps. I just changed mine to what you are using and I get the same as what you posted. Changed back and its fine. I know Mark is tweaking things.

I know the forum default be a bit better because the theme creators logo won't be up top but this one is easier to read.

Mark, it is 14" laptop 4x3 screen running 1024 width resolution.  More pixels will help but then it is harder to read for a different reason.

Really I think sponsor logo on the left or right of the screen really do give more exposure as they are viewed to the side as you scroll down.  The thick width/header for this page is more likely to get me to turn off images.

I would think the thick header is a huge turn-off to unfrequent visitors.  www.classracer.com used to have a header like that..I stopped going there.

Rich...no it is not hard but if you have to ask that then you don't see what my point is.

To help you...I come to the board and I have to scroll to see that you posted a reply.  I click the link and I have to scroll to see your words.  I click reply and I have to scroll to get to the box to enter my reply.

Three unnecessary scrolls to address your question.
Is it hard. No.

I spend a fair amount of time on the web, for work, hobby and fun.  I offer my help and it can be taken or left, that is all.  I offer another perspective Mark cannot see as his browser is not setup like mine.  I surely won't be hurt if it is not taken and again, part of the problem is the amount of real estate used for other items on my browser.

I understand...  however, these templates are not exactly user friendly.  It appears I'd have to rewite a large portion of the code to make that happen.  Plus given a standard 1024X resolution, that's what most folks have today, you will give up viewing area of the treads so we do not have lateral scrolling.  Lateral scrolling is a big no no in this biz.

Offering several templates was never my original intetion, however since people are using other than the forum default, the others will stay.

There needs to be a little give and take here brother... currently 2 people out of 383 members have commented about how they don't like what Tracy and I worked many hours on.  Yes the original was to much...  however what we have now is only about 200 pixels higher than what was there.

I will now stop so I don't start ranting... Lips Sealed  it was a very early morning last night if you catch my drift.

I hope that isn't me you’re talking about, as 1 of the 2 members in your statement above...

I never said I didn’t like the work you guys "worked many hours on", I was trying to voice concerns about ease of use. Take it for what it is, but you should also know in this business ease of use is a big thing. I was trying to be helpful, and if you took this as criticism of your work then I'm sorry for your misinterpretation of my intentions. I believe I even joked about hoping Tracy wasn't upset at the changes that were made to everything that you guys worked on, because I know how long this stuff takes. Besides I like how things ended up, our Sponsors have prominent real estate and we can at least see the forums items now unlike the first draft where you didn't even know that you were on a forum, this is a great compromise to the what yesterday started with.

To those that didn't see things when they were first put up, the entire page (all of the viewable area) was the sponsor images, and the page looked like you were redirected away from the forums to a sponsor page. This is more then likely why Redgar first made his comment. There was no visibility to the forum border at the top (where it displays your name and all that), you had to scroll down before seeing any of that stuff and scroll even further before reading or posting anything, and every time you clicked it defaulted to the top of the page and you never really got more than just sponsor stuff. Mark did a great job to quickly remedy this even before the comments were rolling in, so I am sure he knew something wasn't quite right himself. I was on the entire time this was being put up and modified, it was strange that every time I clicked something changed so I knew he was working on it and my posts were to help get another perspective as he was working...

You would see alot more of web pages if you cleaned all the junk off your web browser. Too much stuff on the top and bottom and too little left for viewing web pages. Don't blam the web designer if you have your screen setup in such a manner.

Not to keep this thread alive, but let me say a couple of things about this deal and then I hope it can be done.

If you guys see something that may hurt the org or a mod to the board that maybe didn't workout quite like we wanted it to, do us a favor, do not make a post on the board about it...  please email us.... we are easy to reach.

Rich and I are always very responsive to the members needs.  Yes, there are times when we have to prioritize how quickly something gets done, however, we do make changes lighting fast in comparison to other places.  I finished this mod at 4 am the other morning, I was back up and re-working it at 8 because it was messed up.

A bulletin board can be a great boost or massive distraction to any racing organization.  I am seeing a trend of groups moving away from hosting their own board because it does more harm than good.

If I was a sponsor for the series and saw folks complaining about the organization putting up my logo on the forum, how do you think I'd feel?

Lets all take a deep breath and think before we hammer away on the keyboard...  OK?
