Hey all,

I just got an email from my administrative coordinator that I am scheduled to roll off the project on 4/11, well I knew the project I was working on wrapped up then. But this paperwork was different, then when I finished all other projects in the past, and it looks like I am rolling off the clients whole account and not just the project. I have been on this same account for over 4.5 years, so I am not sure how I feel about this...

Part of me is happy that I don't have to deal with stupid PM's, and I will not have to deal with extended hours, remember this post... http://www.ramracing.us/smf/index.php/topic,1968.0.html

But there is another part of me that feels like I should be updset that I have put in my time there and now have to start somewhere new, meet new paople/teams, and learn all new stuff. But then again this is the life of a consultant and not sitting on the same account like I did for 4.5 years. But, it is just strange. I also have a part of me that wonders if this is because I put my foot down in the past few weeks and stopped working through the weekends? Undecided

Ahh well, I am torn on how to feel, so I might as well start thinking of the advantages, such as I may have more time to play with the car... Wink

It seems very short notice for a client of 4.5 years.

I have not a client go longer than a 1.5 years .....ever so I don't know how I would feel.   I do know when I am out of this one, I will be a happy dude  Grin

yeah the PM told me last week that I was rolling off this project, but she never mentioned that I would be rolling off the account. Then today I got the paperwork from the AC and when I wrote to my manager this is what I got back...

John--
At this time we do not have another project for you to go to, so this would be to roll-off the Account.  I was under the impression that Nancy had conveyed that to you before she went on vacation, so apologies if this is coming to you as a surprise.  Perhaps there was a mis-communication between rolling of the project and therefore rolling off the Account.

What is your degree in? Tell me a little about what you were doing for this other company.

I work as a computer programmer, IT Major. I have been the technical team lead/lead developer on all the .NET based custom applications for this client. But it looks like they are not dealing with any new custom app. projects, at least not any time soon. I have been the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all of the .NET applications that we support through our flexible services contract with the client when I was not doing the application development stuff. While I was on the last development project there was a restructuring of the contract and the flexible service team is no more. I guess it cost them too much to have us just answering emails, and doing busy work between projects, which was pretty much what the flex team did. So when I thought I was wrapping up the project and going back to the flex role, I got a surprise when I got the information that I didn't have a role to go back to and no new dev projects starting up any time soon.

Yes, I live in PA...

No, I am not near Lansdale, it's about an hour way according to google maps, probably close to twice that in a normal commute I'd think. I am down off of 95 just south of where 95 and 476 intersect, in Brookhaven...

Just out of curiosity though, why ya asking?  Wink

If your looking for a resume then here are mine: My complete resume has everything, and I normally use it as a base to track everything and prune it to try and get about 2 pages. Here is the current one that I am working off of...

I would hope that if any of you download them you will not pass it around with my personal info...
