Hi everyone, My family and I want to thank you all for the strength and positive force of your prayers. My son David has survived the surgury and is back in CCU. When he went into the operation they told us he would be on a ventilator for 3 days when he came out. Can you imagine our joy as they wheeled him past us after 7 hours of surgury and all he had on was a oxygen mask. As they went by my wife Linda called out to David and he turned his head toward her. It was an overwhelming moment after a very stressful day! David is doing as well as can be expected. He is responding to commands and tries to talk but is still under the anesthesia. He is moving his right arm and has squeezed Linda's hand. They are going to reassess him at midnight and then give him morphine to keep him asleep for now. We expect to see the Oncologist tomorrow to see what further treatments will be nessesary. The surgeon said he was able to remove 95 - 98% of the tumor and that the operation went very well but that David will need radiation therapy and possibly chemo also. Your prayers have gotten us this far. We have cleared the first hurdle. Please continue your prayers for a full recovery for David. Thank you all, Lee , Linda, and Brian Grinnell

Hi everyone, I thought I would let you know how things are going with David. He has left the CCU and has been moved to the Med/Surgical floor of the hospital. He is alert and talking and moving all his extremities and is eating and drinking. The doctor has changed him to oral medications and he will start physical and occupational therapies tomorrow. Everyones prayers are working and he is recovering quickly and we are anxious to begin his radiation and chemo therapies so he can try to return to a long and fulfilling life. I would like to thank everyone again for their prayers and positive thoughts for my son. You have been a great help to us all in our time of need. Lee

Hi Everyone, I wanted to drop a line to let you all know how David is doing. He has moved from the hospital to HealthSouth Rehab in Reading,Pa for rehab therapy. I find it amazing that less than a week after surgery he is walking around and is off of all pain medications. He is still a bit wobbly on his feet but he makes progress every time trhe therapists work with him. Every time we visit him he is smiling and in good cheer and he just projects the most postive attitude you can imagine. With his drive and youth and all the prayers everyone has offered for him I am more optomistic than ever that he is going to recover and return to a normal life. We still have a long road of radiation and chemotherapy ahead but we will conquer these obstacles one day and one prayer at a time. Thanks again for all you have done for my son and please continue to remember him in your prayers. Lee

Hello everyone, this is an update on my son David. He has come home from the rehab hospital on friday and is resting at home. He visited the chemo doctor friday afternoon and goes to see the radiation specialist on monday. He still has to go to outpatient physical and speech therapy 2 or 3 times a week but he is improving at a rapid pace. I am sure you all can imagine how good it felt to see him sitting at the table eating dinner after all that has happened. It is a testament to the power of your postive thoughts and prayers that less than 2 weeks after he was operated on he is back home with us
