I have news for all who have been following my son David's fight with brain cancer. David's tumor has begun to regrow and he will undergo a second operation on Monday, Oct 6th. It is also David's 22nd birthday on Monday. I would like to ask you all again to pray for my son. I would really like to see him become one year older. All the doctors say they have never seen a tumor this aggresive in such a young patient and we are all amazed that it has regrown at such a fast pace. We will try to start radiation and chemo much more quickly this time in an effort to prevent this from occuring again. They have been able to stabilize his condition for now and have reduced the swelling and pressure in his brain with massive doses of steroids. He has come home from the hospital for the weekend and we will celebrate his birthday on Sunday with the hope that he will see the start of his new year on Monday. Please pray that David's operation is a success and that he will recover. Thank you. Lee, Linda, David and Brian Grinnell ps., if you have time, a Happy Birthday e-mail would help his spirits djg1026@verizon.netThanks

My families thoughts are also with you Lee. I'm pulling for positive thoughts throughout the whole footbrake community at the Grove this weekend. I've e-mailed Jenny @ the track for an announcement for a moment of thought and prayer before the anthem.

Lee, prayers go out to your family and especially your son David. He has a lot going for him in addition to all the payers that have and will be sent; he is a strong young man and I know he will come through this without hesitation and look back and say wow, I'm glad thats over. Hang in there buddy.

Hi Ron Thanks for asking. Yes the operation went well and David is recovering well. The surgeon said that they had to remove more tumor and tissue but David does not seem any worse for it so far. He is alert and talking and the the nurses had him sitting up in a chair already this morning. He actually seems to be recovering from the operation more quickly than last time. The surgeon said that for this operation they had some new computer equipment to assist in the operating room that mapped the operation using the MRI results to guide him and would allow more tumor removal with less damage to David's brain. Now we are waiting to restart the radiation and chemo with as little delay as is safe for David. We hope to start about a week after the operation and since he had started it last week we can resume with no delays. I want to thank you and your family and all the Ram Racing family again for all your support and prayers in this trying time. It has been comforting to our family and of immense help to David

Thanks Kevin, It was good to get out. For those of you who did not hear yet my son David is home from the hospital. The strength and resilence of my son continues to amaze me. When he was operated on the first time he was in CCU for a week, on the surgical floor for a week and in rehab for a week. He was operated on Monday for a second time, was sitting up Tuesday, walking Wednesday and transfered to the surgical floor and he is home today almost as if nothing happened. We had his birthday on Sunday and we gave him a laptop to continue his school work on and today he collected his e-mail. He was very touched by all of you who dropped him a note on his birthday and wished him well and I want to thank you all. We will start chemo and radiation Tuesday or Wednesday and will be going to Jefferson in Philly for a second opinion and a consultation to see if there are other treatment options that may help him to a full recovery.
