On an aluminum rod motor how much should you be able to move the rods when the rod bolts are tightened to spec on the crank?

Should you be able to move them side to side along the length of the crank?  If so should it be easy to move?  If so how much should it move?

Basically what should the side clearance be?  What does it mean if it is to much?

i don't know how much is too much but you have to have side clearance on all rods. i would think that aluminum one would have more as they grow so much with the engine heat.

I have always tried to have .025 to .035 betwen each, if ya have more than that you may want to make sure you have a high volume pump to compensate for the lack of oil control.

Aluminum rods should have .020-.022 side clearance.
