RAM Racing will be releasing their own version of the front mounted belt driven distributor in the next week. Designed for high revving engines and power adder conbos that require an intense and controlled spark, enabling the distributor to increase engine rpms. I will be posting pics of this new revolutionary design in the next couple of days. The new design has evolved from the Jesel/Mallory belt driven distributor but offers these special features:
-Uniform head design that will fit many applications with interchangeable brackets
-Twin caps that allow every other wire to fire from each cap
-Twice as much room between lugs to prevent spark scatter
-A precision steel shaft with sealed precision bearings to assure accuracy
-Use of dual coils allow for lesser saturation rate for each
-All parts marked individually for easy ordering of replacements
-Pricing in accord with other brands

This is what we have so far as a prototype for a sbf, but the sbc is getting revamped as we speak with the logo machined in and some other tweaks. I have a girl doing flyers for them right now, hope to have that literature soon.

Looks good Rich! How close is it to a Dominator carb?

Do you mean distance-wise? How close is it to a dominator? The fords seem to have plenty of room, we are working on the sbc and bbc to get the back cap away from the water. We have raised the unit and pulled it as far forward as possible and I am working on getting some crab style caps to keep them tighter, but dont think there is any probs with them getting near the carb.

Leonard has this one on his motor at the dyno as we speak. I should have the sbc back here in a few days with the new bracket and cap design. The idea behind this is to spread the distance even farther between the posts to eliminate any possibility of spark scatter and with the addition of using a coil for each side will cut down on the saturation rate of each coil. May not make any more hp, but should stabilize spark and have the ability to see a few 100 more rpms and with that, I guess it will make more avg. hp then.

Not yet, and I didnt even think of the contingency yet, but not a bad idea. With all the work there is in the shop right now, havent had the time to address it as I should. But will be back on it soon.

Any news on how the new Dist. worked out on the Dyno? Any back to back test?

From what I gather, the engine they are testing is having some leaking issues, first pull or two are similar and then it starts to drop off and the engine is showing leakage, so they havent been able to get the distributor on it yet for testing til they rememdy the other concern. But will let you know asap.

Here are a couple of pics of the sbc design, the crab style cap has been utilized in this design to try and avoid any conflict with the water neck on the sbc and I guess the bbc will be similar.
