Question for the 10.5 racer's.
I have a new car for the 2011 season.........it has a one piece fiberglass front end with removeable hood & doors. The front end has a factory grille bolted to it an apears to look like a stock front end. The only problem is that it is not bolted on, in which the rules clearly state that it must be bolted on.
Will this rule infraction cause a problem ?
I have spoke with Rich about this and he dosnt realy have a problem with it........as long as it looks like a stock boddied car. I would like my fellow racers input on this matter.
Thanks, Mike Barry

Does it say how it has to be bolted in and what kind of bolts used to fasten the front end on? If not, a dzus can be considered a bolt since there is kind of a thread on it. I for one dont care, we have weight, tire, engine and suspension rules. As long as it isn't an "outlaw" front end which has an affect on aero.

Nice looking car but the rule book says no one piece front ends and must bolt on.If Rich is changing it in the rule book its fine with me.If he is not doing so then why have a rule book.

I agree with you Jay, rules are rules........this is why I wanted to get this sorted out now, not at the first race in 2011.

I knew you owned it at one time Gary. The rules are clear..........which makes the car illegal.......and I'm ok with that. I'm planing the 2011 season out, and need to figure out which direction to go. I'm not sure how many Ram race's I would be able to attend, so before I spent any money leaning towards 10.5.......I needed to know how everybody felt about the rule infraction. I want to make it clear that I did not ask Rich to change the rules for me..........and he did not offer to do so either. Thanks guy's for your input !!

I think the car looks great. I feel it might not fit the actual written rules but it does fit in the spirit of the rules. I think as long as the parts are exact replacements and are not lengthened or drooped that should be OK. Careful adjustments to the written rules to clarify this would be necessary. NHRA Pro Stock started out as stock looking cars but look what happened to them after minor rules adjustments over the years. I'm a big fan of fast stock appearing cars.

Mike,I really have no problem with the one piece front end as long as its not some outlaw front like what John said.My thing is what the rules say now if the rules where changed then im good with it but rules would have to change first.

I agree with John Langer and Jay but if it doesn't have an areo advantage and has stock length and ground clearence I am ok with it. We need cars as long as it fit the rest of the rules.

Mike, the car is sharp, I like it, and had you not discussed it with us and never pulled it off while at the track, you coulda got away with it, as good as it looks. I dont see any performance advantage but.......I hate to change the rules period, and I may if you are going to make a major amount of our events, but if you are only going to show up for 1 or 2, there are people asking for alot over the years, and havent gotten it, and they are at every race. So I would feel foolish to have this conversation and make a few enemies along the way, change it, and then you dont show up because the other event is in town. So give me more info on your plans and we will see.
Rich

Fair enough Rich, you make good sense. I didnt want to show up at one of next years races and be the racer that tried to slip one by on everybody. I felt it would be better to discuss it now and know were everybody stands on it. I wish great success to all of the Ram racers and be safe in the 2011 season !!
