Our events have always been a one day event. After speaking with Royce Miller at MIR I have discovered that the East Coast Door Wars that we have competed in previously and have graciously been invited to return has now been turned into a 2 day event, qualifying on Saturday and Sunday will be early Elims to get us out at a respectable time. There will also be a Friday ni...ght test n tune (extra fee) and an et eliminator on Saturday if anyone wants to get in on the action there (extra fee) but our standard program will be the same entry fee for the racers, but an additional fee for a two day deal for crew a spectators. I think it would be a great way to start our 2012 season. Please give me some immediate feedback to let me know so I can respond to Royce immediately. The dates are April 21-22.

My opinion should not carry much weight because I can't commit to any dates because of my work schedule - or lack thereof...
That said, I enjoy 2 day events, especially at a place like MIR. There is no question it costs significantly more though...
If it is a go, and I'm not working, I'll be there. 1 day or 2 days...

If there was one qualifier on the 2nd day that might make it more attractive to more people. Also, I've been leary lately with open trailer to stay over at motels but if I could leave car at track overnite that might work....or if camping at the track was allowed, that could work.

i generally do not like a 2 day event unless it is close enough to commute overnight. with the economy the way it is the room fees are an expense i would prefer to pass on. as BQUICK said, a qualifier for those who could not stay over would be nice

Two day events are too costly for us average guys. The problem with MIR is it is a 4+ hour tow for me and I am sure it is as far or further for some of the other guys. My opinion is to keep it close. Stay with maple Grove, Cecil, & Atco.

Double the payouts and guarantee them and I am sure the racers would have not problem driving all the way down to MIR. Other then that, I highly doubt the turnout will be respectable.

I guess one day events is what it will be then. I will see if Royce has anything else we can compete alongside later on in the year. Thanks guys for your input, appreciate it Rich

There is the other side of the this. We raced in 2010 and didn't race in 2011 because the all the races were either MG or Cecil. Cecil is only 2½ hours away but MG is 4+ hours away. MIR is 8 minutes. When the series raced at MIR, Cecil, US13, Numina and one race at MG, we all traveled a little. When the first draft for 2010 came out, it had a race at VMP. We would have really liked that. Some of the guys from Delaware are closer to MIR than MG. My son and I would love to race RAM again, but we couldn't afford to race both cars with three or four trips to MG and none local.

everyone has reasons why they like it or not. i think the focus of Rich's question was for a 2 day event. i liked the travel to various tracks also as it made the series interesting with racing a venue that was new to you. i think the economy had an effect on that part of the series. i would be interested in the travel again but not for a multi-day event. mir and vmp are 5-6 hours for me and i went to both and had a good time, well i blew it up at vmp but it was still fun. travel to delmar was always an experience as the race always seemed to fall on nascar weekends at dover which made the tow down in the morning fun. anyway, i am anxious to see what Rich comes up with for a schedule this year and hope to make as many as possible.

I like 2 day racers if we start later and get out earlier and maybe get more time between rounds. I hate leaving my house at 6 oclock in the morning to drive 3 to 4 hours to a track and leave at midnight and drive 3 to 4 hours home. that makes for a long day and I hate to leave my rig at a motel to be stolen on the way to or from the track. A motel room is still cheeper than falling a sleep at the wheel and wrecking your truck and trailer on the way home at 2 in the morning after racing all day.

Every single person has a valid point, not all of us live in the same development on rt. 40 5 minutes from Cecil. There may ber some that helps and then there are others that its 5 hours away. When we take what we thought was our core group of racers (within this Cecil area) and we arent bringing the cars, whats it going to hurt to travel and possibly look for new. I do understand that the 2 day thing may incurr more costs than necessary. I only put it out there since its a program that we used to be part of and they have changed the venue and just offered to you guys to go back under the new schedule. I do like to travel a little but I only want to go to places that treat us with respect. You got to admit DelMar the crowd reallly loves us, and will stay at the fence til we leave. I will continue on the schedule til we get something that makes sense. So hang in there and I will post as soon as the dates come our way. And thanks for your help with your thoughts and suggestions. I have noticed alot of changes here in the last season or two, we all seem to be working so well together and everyone's thoughts are productive and not criticisms.......Thank You, that makes this position so much more pleasant, trust me. We do have a great bunch of racers, and I really do appreciate it!!

Rich, in all fairness it doesn't really matter how the track treats us from a friendly stand point. From a business stand point, what is the track offering for monetary compensation for bringing a program for their spectators is what matters. If a track is willing to say wave the tech card purchase for the 10.5 and radial guys (sorry index racers), this would benefit the racers. If the track would say give you X amount of dollars for bringing X amount of cars that you could give back to the racers, this would help the racers. Delamr treats you good cause they have nothing else going on down there. Royce and the crew treat everyone good but it is 10 hours round trip. If I have to start driving that far, I might as well as go back to the NMCA to win 5k after contingency. Just saying. I have ram exclusively the last few years because I was tired of traveling across the country.

I can understand that. But in the same token living in Phila. your suggestion would be have an event at Atco every month? While their are still tons of racers who are on the bottom side of maryland that have to travel all the way up there? I know its not perfect and I am trying to keep it as close as possible but still venture out some, this is no where near as much travelling as the other touring series to Milan, Chicago, Bowling Green and such, big difference.
I am thinking of these tracks cuz they do offer me incentive at so much per car I can bring in the gate and US13 tech card fee is dirt cheap for everyone and the only ones who give the winners 3 ft. trophies. It would be great in a perfect world wher we couldacquire the entire purse with out and no admittance fee whatsoever, that would be the ultimate, unfortunately also seems improbable. If each racer wants to bring one company to the table in some fashion, wecould almost do that. But me workin it alone will only get me so close. And as a business standpoint I haveto go where the $$$ is just o be able to operate. I just hope that where they end up and where you guys want to be are one and the same.
Rich

I wouldn't suggest Atco each month. What I would do is contact Atco, Cecil and Maplt Grove and see if they are having events where they have the NE pro mods or what ever exibition class racing and junp on board with that program. Make an agreement with the track owners that we go out before those cars as a precusor to their "big" show to start getting people back in the stands. This would showcase our racers to new spectators in hopes of increasing participation and interest in our series. It would only take one or two of us to do a decent wheel stand with the high pitch of high rpm n/a power to interest people. just sayin'.

That has always been the backbone to my thought process in this, the unique-ness of what we do can be heard from miles away with screaming rpms. I think our cars do get the atention of the crowd, and I have contacted all of the other orgs to see if we cant travel together some. i.e: Mt motor Pro Stocks, NE Pro Mods. Stock/Super Stocks. I am working it where I can. This will be the first year that Lee and mysef will be going on the road to travel to the Manufacturers and vendors to see what we can do face to face. I am thinking we have a better chance to walk out with something.
Well wish us luck. Rich

I agree with John.We need to be with some other show whatever it may be.As far as all the traveling i have no problem with that other then doing that just puts more on the racers. It maybe that the tracks are good to us but that does not help the cost for us.To get a cheaper tech card does not matter when we have to spend twice as much in fuel to get there. If the tracks want us there they need to do something for the series no matter what it is.As far as i see we are the show for the day and i would bet that where are people coming out just to see us so with that being said the tracks need to help the show.
