I know I am slow compaired to you guys, and this is my first year here, but I am excited and wanted to share where I'm at and things that still need to get done.

Since last season when I was running my daily driver, 2.73 geared, Stock internal LT1 Formula into the mid 12's I have added a few little things for this season.

  • Ron setup a spare stock rear I have with 3.73 gears, and I installed that a little bit ago but then it got messy out...
  • I finally picked up lighweight rims and new tires, Weld draglites 3.5" fronts and 8" rears with M/T 275 60 15 (28" tall) drag radials, much better grip the the 5 year old worn out 245 50 16 drag radials I have been using. Plus even stepping up to a taller tire still give some advantage from last year, since the 3.73's and 28" tire would be the same as 2.42's with the 26" tire I had so I'm technically stepping up from 2.73's to 3.42...
  • HD 1" solid CM rear swaybar, to help launch a little more square...
  • CM subframe connectors, to keep the t-top car together...
  • some weight reduction, hoping for for somewhere around 3450 raceweight...
  • hidden n20... whoops i mean, uhm, ah, just kidding...

I am hoping for lower 12's, and if that doesn't get me there I may have a Comp cc305 cam, and ported heads by the end of the season bepending on funds and if I actually have the time put them in...

That does not sound like pressure to me.  My first race is next weekend in Richmond, VA.

Car has new motor but the shop has been busy with other cars and has not gotten me tuned so will likely be on the dyno Monday, Tuesday and hopefully done by then.

Still a laundry list of things that did not get done though.  The hope is to be ready Thrusday when I fly in from Oklahoma to pick it up and head down to MIR for a Friday track rental to test and tune and then enter our big Corvette race in Richmond Saturday.

Oh I hope that didn't come off as being under pressure, I just ment it as a post of things that I still had to do, and I am normally excited when I can acually spend money on my car, and wanted to share some of my new toys, and also kinda wanted to see how the other guys were doing...

Oh and Perk, I do sign off I just get bored at work a lot and get on here and read so I know what I am getting myself into Wink, I think I have made it through most of the posts in the first 5-6 pages in the General and Shootout section. I know I need a hobby Roll Eyes, but since I don't have a garage and do all my own work in my driveway, it's not like I can work on the car anytime soon...

Ok Guys,

So where is the best place to hit a chasis dyno around that has good prices and good customer service, I live between the Philly airport and Wilmington, but am not against driving further if need be. I want to get a baseline for this season, and get a starting place where to set the shiftpoints with the new gear/tire combo...

There is a local shop that has a dyno, but they just hook it up run it the way they want to and don't even work with the vehicle owner. I went with a car club and paid for 2 pulls and a simulated 1/4 mile run, and had the 2.73 gears I told them that due to those gears it had run it up to at least 160 in 3rd to get a good reading, they didn't believe me and had the computer set to kill it at 140 or so (since that is where most of the other guys were) and the graph only read up to 4800 RPM's. Then the next run I played with the car a little and they said they bumped up the shutdown speed some and that graph only went to 5250 so I could at least see where the line merged. Then they ran the car again and I assumed they were redoing it, but found my time was up and that was the simulated 1/4, and I ended up with only had 2 pulls that didn't even show me anything other then torque. I thought since those runs were not full pulls they shouldn't count since it was their error not anything to do with me, and they were telling me I had to pay more for more runs if I wanted then to do more then that, so I decided I wasn't going to go back there unless there was nowhere else.

For anyone interested in laughing at those lousy graphs they are http://www.1slowformula.com/images/dyno_full_exhaust.jpg
